Energy Safety Canada™ (ESC) courses

Western Canada Fire & First Aid Inc. is an Authorized Training Provider of Energy Safety Canada (ESC), offering ESC-certified safety training in Edmonton for workers in Alberta's energy, oil and gas, construction and industrial sectors

Confined Space (ESC)

This training is for those working at an oil and gas-specific worksite.

This training teaches participants to identify, understand and mitigate the potential hazards of working in restricted and confined spaces.

Fall Protection (ESC)

This training is for those working at an oil and gas-specific worksite.

Designed to educate the worker in the planning, use, care and implementation of common fall protection systems, it includes both theory and practical application exercises.

H2S Alive ® (ESC)

This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to help them identify and detect H₂S, mitigate the hazards of working in an H₂S environment, and respond to an incident involving an H₂S release.

Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (ESC)

Through a combination of theory and practical application, this course provides basic operator training for working with Type 3, Group B MEWPs with a focus on managing hazards and selecting, inspecting, and operating a MEWP.

Participants must have a valid ESC Fall Protection Certificate.

Common Safety Orientation (ESC)

This online or classroom course provides workers new to the energy industry with foundational health and safety concepts to support safe work performance. Participants will learn about safe work practices, emergency preparedness and response procedures, reporting incidents and near misses, applying the 10 Life Saving Rules, and identify and address workplace hazards.

Fire Watch (ESC)

This course covers the duties of the Fire Watch position who oversees work posing a fire risk.

Participants will learn the roles and responsibilities of a Fire Watch before, during and after hot work including reviewing permits, hazard identification, communication and emergency response.
