At the end of this course the end-user should be knowledgeable of potentially hazardous environments, the requirements for wearing breathing apparatus, the proper procedures for donning, doffing, and inspecting the apparatus as well as the proper care and maintenance of the equipment.
Course Outline
The course includes both a theory and practical section. The theory portion includes the following topics:
- Understanding legal oversight.
- Overview of breathing apparatus.
- Shell Scotford policies and procedures for using breathing apparatus.
- SCBA Use and Exercise.
- SABA Use and Exercise.
- Bottle Watch Responsibilities and Exercise.
- Cold Weather Use

Length: Theory: Two – Three hours – plus skills assessment
Certificate: Valid for three years
